Gum Disease
Unfortunately, the untrained eye cannot notice the warning signs of gum disease. A dentist or hygienist must do a thorough and complete examination to detect it, especially in its early stages. Gum disease is similar to high blood pressure or heart disease - by the time symptoms are noticed by patients, it is in an advanced stage.
For these reasons, it's important to have regular cleanings and examinations.

- Arestin Antibiotic Gel: a deep cleaning agent that's placed in the gum pockets and around the teeth to further combat bacteria
- Oraqix: a topical anesthetic used during gum cleaning. Oraqix replaces the conventional shot and eradicates the numb feeling quickly.
Patient Comfort & Technology
We put technology to work for you in different ways. Technology has improved our ability to fight tooth decay and gum disease. Technology has helped to improve the comfort of our patients. When we research new technology, we evaluate it solely based on the end benefit to our patients.
We utilize the following in our practice:
- Air Abrasion: a quiet and painless way to remove decay or prepare teeth for a procedure
- Kodak Logicon Digital Radiography: this system provides x-rays but also acts as a computer-assisted diagnostic tool because it can see spots on teeth (potential cavities or cracks, for example) that the human eye could never see! These digital x-rays also mean significantly less patient exposure to radiation.
